Lighting the Sound

Presented by FORM and produced in collaboration with world-renowned Finnish light artist Kari Kola, co-designed and led by Menang Elders and the Albany community, Lighting the Sound will transform Albany’s natural coastline and landmarks into an immersive and meditative light experience over three weekends in March 2026. Visible from key locations around the Albany townsite, the dramatic illumination of the landforms in and around King George Sound, will divert eyes and attention outward from the coast towards the life-giving source of the ocean, the focus of so much ancestral, cultural, ecological and historical meaning.

The National Anzac Centre offers a unique vantage point for this spectacular display.

The National Anzac Centre will remain open until 8:30pm and the Forts Store will remain open until 7pm. The Barracks, Guard House and Underground Magazine will be closed on these evenings.
